- Single use magic items under 500gp value
Appraisal
Some rare items may require appraisal by an expert to know their true value. If you do not know the value of what you hold, you are more likely to get fleeced by the savvy businessbeings at the bazaar. Getting a piece of art, jewelry, or a handful of gemstones appraised by a neutral expert costs 10gp. Paying this lets you know the proper value of the item so you can haggle appropriately. Getting a magic item appraised and identified costs 100gp, whereapon the GM will inform you of its full abilities, how to activate it, and so on, in addition to its market value. Some particularly tricky, cursed, ancient, or powerful artifacts may flummox modern identifiers though. The GM is free to give partial identifications in exchange for partial fees at her discretion. The identifier will alert the irregular that the item has further qualities they were unable to divine.
- 10gp - determine the value of piece of art, jewelry, or a handful of gemstones
- 100gp - determine the value of a magic item, as well it's properties, powers, and means of activation.
Selling Things
Common or Uncommon goods can be readily sold at market for 1/4 of their listed price, or 1/2 of their listed price on a successful Persuasion check opposed by the sellers Spirit (assume d6 if the buyer isn't detailed). If the item is unusual and hasn't been appraised, and the seller loses this battle of wills, the GM may offer any price, regardless of the items value, since the buyer recognizes that the seller doesn't know the items worth.
Finding Sellers
Rare, illegal, or niche goods can be harder to offload. In order to sell these, you will have to find a buyer. This counts as a downtime activity. Roll
Consignment and the Pawn Shop
If you want more for your goods or want to avoid the legwork of finding a buyer, they can be put up on consignment at the Pawn Shop. The item must have a known value (get it appraised first!), but you can get up to 100% of the listed price on consigned goods. However, it takes some time. Each week, for each item on consignment, roll 1d6x*100 (or half that if the item is Niche). If the result is greater than the items list price, the item sells, and the consigner recieves 100% of the list price. If the result is 75% or greater of the list price, the seller makes a Spirit roll with a -1 penalty for each week the item has been on consignment. On a success, she doesn't sell the item, but keeps it for another week. On a failure, she sells it, and the consigner recieves the rolled offer in gold pieces.
Players may also make offers on goods consigned by other players at the pawn shop.
