Large Player Characters

Large player characters do not use the large weapon rules (DMG p. 278). Instead, weapons scaled for large player characters (whether found or manufactured) use the “oversized weapons” rules below. Lifting and Carrying: Double your carrying capacity, as well as the amount you can push, pull, or lift. Consumables: Based on the food and water needs (DMG p. 111), Large creatures require four times as much food and water per day. Cover: It should be harder for a Large creature to find cover (PHB p. 196). The DM will adjudicate this, but roughly speaking where a Medium creature would find total cover, a Large creature might only receive three-quarters cover; where a Medium creature finds three-quarters cover, a Large creature might only receive half cover; and where a Medium creature finds half cover, a Large creature might find none. Weapons: Large creatures can't wield hidden or undersized weapons. Large creatures have disadvantage on attack rolls with light weapons. One handed weapons with the “versatile” trait are treated as light weapons for the purpose of two-weapon fighting. Unarmed strikes and weapons designed for the creature are considered to be “oversized.” Oversized Weapons: The oversized property can be applied to the statistics of any weapon. This includes unarmed strikes. An oversized weapon deals one-step greater damage than its normal counterpart. 1 → 1d4 → 1d6 → 1d8 → 1d10 → 1d12 → 2d8 2d4 → 2d6 → 2d8 Other properties of oversized weapons: Light. The weapon is only considered light if you are a Large creature, otherwise it is ignored. Finesse. The weapon is only considered finesse if you are a Large creature, otherwise it is ignored. Versatile. The weapon is only considered versatile if you are a Large creature, otherwise it is considered to be a two-handed weapon. Heavy. If you are a Medium creature, you have disadvantage on attack rolls with the weapon. If you are Small, you cannot wield the weapon at all. Thrown. You can only throw the weapon if you are Large. Two-handed. Add the heavy property if it did not already have it. The weight and cost of an oversized weapon are doubled, as are those of any ammunition it uses.
